Meaning daring in Russian, Zhivago’s “dirty-pretty” collection draws on the combined style sense, experience and design talents of long time friends Lydia Tsvetnenko and Lara Kovacevich.
Renowned for her glamorous image, Lydia’s innate design talents emerged as early as ten when she began sewing her own creations on a Barbie sewing machine. She left school early for a retail career in fashion, studied design at Perth TAFE and began managing leading fashion outlets at 18. Known to whip up a sensational gown in an evening, Lydia’s creations have attracted press attention in Perth and Los Angeles. Influential friends in the Hollywood Hills encouraged her to open a design studio in LA, however Lydia chose to return to her hometown to launch her design career.
Well known and respected in fashion circles, Lara, completed her design qualifications at the WA Institute of Art Design and Media before joining the fashion industry. Versatile, innovative and creative, Lara has designed, styled and project managed runway shows. Noted for her design flair, Lara’s industry experience also includes sales agency, retail management, event management, branding, marketing and public relations.
Quickly garnering a loyal following, Zhivago landed a coveted spot to showcase it’s first skin and bones inspired Spring- Summer 2012 collection at this year’s Perth Fashion Festival. True to its namesake, Zhivago offers daring collections that are strong, dramatic, yet body conscious and elegant. Zhivago’s first full collection, Winter 2012 promises further refinement of garment shapes to deliver an even stronger and more dramatic emphasis than the summer collection.
